Press Release 09/05/06

New Pharmacist Awards website makes nominating our favourite pharmacist even easier

Systems Solutions launches Pharmacist Awards website

09 May 2006 – Dublin, Ireland – Systems Solutions, the title sponsor of the 2006 Pharmacist Awards, has today launched a website making online nominations for the Pharmacist Awards a reality.

The Pharmacist Awards aims to highlight excellence across the pharmacy profession and is open to all pharmacists working across community, hospital, industrial and academic pharmacy settings.

David Raethorne, founding technical director of Systems Solutions, explains the reasons for commissioning the website, “The Pharmacist Awards is such an important event, which recognises the vital role that pharmacy plays within our overall healthcare system. Being the title sponsor of these prestigious awards for the second year in a row, as well as being the leading pharmacy software provider in Ireland, it seemed only logical to create an online presence for the Pharmacist Awards. We wanted to create a nomination process that made it even easier and faster for pharmacists to nominate the people they think are most deserving of the awards. The Pharmacist Awards website enables us to achieve this. Pharmacists can simply log onto the website at www.pharmacistawards.com and vote for the colleagues and peers that they most respect and admire”.

In addition to the online nomination feature, the website also contains all the information pharmacists and the public need to know about the Pharmacist Awards, including a definition of each award category. Visitors to the site can read all about last year’s event and browse through the photo gallery featuring all the attendees and winners of last year’s Pharmacist Awards.

Fintan Moore, Chairman of the Pharmacist Awards organising committee said “The Pharmacist Awards not only honours the profession of pharmacy but, more importantly, it contributes much needed funding to the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland’s Benevolent Trust Fund, which has proved to be a vital support to many pharmacists and their families in the past. Last year’s event, which was attended by over 400 representatives from the pharmacy and healthcare professions, managed to raise €23, 630 for the Benevolent Fund. We are hoping that this year’s event will raise even more much needed funds.”

The deadline for nominating your pharmacist of choice is 30th June 2006. This year’s awards will be adjudicated by 12 pharmacists, who will shortlist a total of 20 pharmacists from the range of entries submitted. Award finalists and winners will be announced at the gala black-tie event will be held this year at the elegant surroundings of the Four Season’s Hotel, Dublin, on Saturday, 25th November 2006. To make an online nomination for a pharmacist of your choice, simply log onto www.pharmacistawards.com.
