New board appointments

Helix Health announces the appointment of key industry players to its board of directors

  

05 September 2007 – Dublin, Ireland – Helix Health Limited, the largest healthcare IT solutions provider in Ireland, has announced the appointment of three new additions to its board of directors. Lar Bradshaw and Dr. Maurice Cox FRCSI become non-executive directors of the company, while John Bolger assumes the position of Chief Finance Officer.

 

Announcing the directorship appointments, Howard Beggs, CEO of Helix Health, says, “We are delighted that people of the calibre of Lar, Maurice and John have joined the board of Helix Health. Between them, they possess an intricate knowledge of the opportunities and challenges facing Irish firms, particularly one that seeks to grow into a formidable international force in healthcare IT. As we continue to scale-up and internationalise, the advice and guidance of our enhanced board of directors will be instrumental to the future growth and strategic direction of Helix Health”.

 

Lar Bradshaw is currently Executive Chairman of Cove Capital. Lar was previously managing director of McKinsey & Co. Ireland and a director of McKinsey & Co. worldwide, where he spent 20 years consulting to leading companies in Ireland, UK and the US. He was also the Chairman of the Dublin Docklands Authority from 1997 until May of this year and was appointed Non-Executive Director of Anglo Irish Bank Corporation plc in 2004. Lar holds a Masters in Business Administration degree from IMD in Switzerland.

 

Dr. Maurice Cox, during his time with McKinsey, worked extensively with both the Irish and UK healthcare systems. Maurice left McKinsey in 2003 to co-found The Well, a community based healthcare company. In addition to providing GP screening and occupational health services, The Well also operates at the SwiftCare Clinics in partnership with the VHI. Maurice holds a B.A in Medicine from Trinity College Dublin, an M.Phil. in skeletal biology from Cambridge University, and is a  fellow of  the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

 

Both Maurice and Lar are non-executive directors of the charity ORBIS Ireland, the non-profit humanitarian organisation dedicated to blindness prevention and treatment in developing countries.

 

Lar and Maurice are joined on the board of directors by John Bolger, who takes up the position of Chief Finance Officer. John joined Helix Health in 2004 in the capacity of Financial Controller. With over 20 years of financial management experience, John has worked in a variety of roles for national and international companies such as Hibernia Capital Partners, British American Tobacco, Aer Rianta International and Forzani’s Locker Room, the leading sports retail company in Canada. John is a Fellow Chartered Accountant and holds both a B.Comm degree from University College of Dublin and an MBA qualification from Purdue University, Indiana, USA.

 

These appointments bring the total number of directors serving on the board of Helix Health to seven, including Chairman, Peter Murray, former Chairman of Anglo Irish Bank Corporation plc, Howard J. Beggs, CEO, and David Raethorne, Chief Technical Officer, and Nick Strong, Non-Executive Director.
