Speaking at the Helix Health Pharmacist Awards, Howard Beggs, CEO, Helix Health said, “The role of the pharmacist is becoming increasingly important in the effective and efficient delivery of healthcare in Ireland. In addition, the pharmacist is often a linchpin in the community both in rural and urban settings further emphasising the importance and significance of the role. Helix Health recognises the vital work that they do and so is committed to honouring our pharmacists through the Helix Health Pharmacist Awards. We congratulate all of our winners this evening but also recognise the work being done by pharmacists all around the country.”

Fintan Moore, chairperson of the Helix Health Pharmacist Awards organising committee said, “As always, the Award judges had an incredibly difficult time selecting winners due to the high calibre of nominees. The pharmacist role has gone from strength to strength in our communities and we are seeing an increase in the number of products and services that they provide within the community. These awards are a way to highlight their work and I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of the commended and finalist pharmacists.”

All money raised from this year’s Helix Health Pharmacist Awards will go towards The Pharmacy Benevolent Fund which supports those who have been associated with pharmacy and who are now in need of assistance. The funds are put to a wide variety of uses to improve the basic quality of life of those in need. Lack of provision for the inevitable event of retirement, or the unexpected events of being unable to work due to serious illness or premature death of a working spouse, are the primary reasons people need assistance from The Benevolent Fund.
